We have all heard about the stories of Gulfstream Park back in the days when winter racing was the talk of the town. Throngs of crowds gathered for the pomp and circumstance on Stakes dates that featured mule races, performances by the skiers of Cypress Gardens, a paddleboat that patrolled the lake, and of course the best thoroughbreds in the land.
Thanks to the folks at The State Library of Florida and Florida Memory, we have a chance to revisit and marvel at what a time that must have been. You will be amazed at the aerial scenes showing GP of yesteryear. Click the link and spend some time (approx. 15 minutes) reliving some special days from 1963 at old Gulfstream Park.
Film may take a minute to buffer, then enjoy.
