From a small village somewhere high in the Himalayas, the Great Swami has dusted off the crystal ball and takes a look at the 150th edition of the Kentucky Derby. On Saturday, 20 of the best equine colts (not trained by Bob Baffert) will spring from the starting gate for a once in a lifetime run for the roses. The road to the Derby has been a long roller coaster ride consisting of the highest of highs, and the depths of despair, not to mention those who had to overcome the annual outbreak of Derby Fever. You can also be infected with paralyses by analysis as you attempt to weigh the chances of each of the 20 starters. After much meditation and chanting, I have reduced the field to the eight I believe will be prominent at the finish line on Saturday. They are, in alphabetical order:
Catching Freedom..5 consecutive Beyer improvements
Domestic Production..has been looking for some pace
Endlessly..5 of 6 and will be coming late
Fierceness..win/clunker,win/clunker, win and guess whats next. Also the 17 post is 0 for forever.
Forever Young..Frequent traveler, never beaten to wire
Just a Touch..Could have been content to peak now
Siera Leone..always coming and the distance will help
Stronghold..West Coaster has been an exacta machine
How Does the Swami see the finish???
Siera Leone
Just a Touch
Endlessly
I send along best wishes to all for a safe and competitive race and remind all who wager that there is no warranty or guarantee in horse racing. Good Luck
