Leopoldo Azpurua Sr, was born December 6th, 1932 in Caracas, Venezuela. He attended George Washington University. His racing career was between Monmouth and Gulfstream Park. In 1971 he was one the inaugural horse trainers at Calder Race Course until 1980. Then he moved
to Ocala to start Parkhurts Farm where he broke and developed over 200 stake horses. He retired in 2005 and lived in the Ocala Gainesville area for 35 years. He is survived by his second wife, a son, two daughters and three grandchildren.
