The FHBPA sponsored stakes schedule hit the halfway mark, when trainer Robert Falcone Jr’s “Supercommittee,” hit the wire first in winning the Ginger Punch. Four more stakes remain in the series with the Not Surprising slated for July 6.
The Ginger Punch, honored the Adena Farms, Stronach home bred by Awesome Again and trained by the late Bobby Frankel. In her career, Ginger Punch carded a record of 22 starts with 12 wins, 6 seconds and 2 thirds while earning a tidy $3,065,603.
Counted among the victories that she chalked up were 11 stake wins. Prominent among those were the Sunshine Millions Distaff, Go for Wand Handicap (twice), Personal Ensign, Ogden Phipps, and an unforgettable win in the Emirates Airline Breeders Cup Distaff. That $2,000,000 effort under Rafael Bejarano, was contested in the sloppiest of conditions at Monmouth Park in 2007. She retired following her final race in 2008, which was the Breeders Cup Ladies Classic in which she finished 6th.
